1. Why do I need to complete an intake form for a massage?
Completing an intake form, either before or at your first appointment, is crucial for a personalized and safe massage. It allows your therapist to understand your health history and specific preferences. This helps us tailor the session to your unique needs and identify any potential contraindications, ensuring the best possible experience for you.
2. Should I be completely nude for my session?
Your comfort is our top priority! You should undress to your comfort level. Whether you prefer to stay fully clothed, undress to your undergarments, or go completely nude, it’s entirely up to you. Please be assured that our massage therapists always use professional draping techniques to maintain your privacy and modesty throughout the entire session. For all clothed areas, we will simply administer a different technique/stroke.
3. How long should a typical session last?
The ideal session length depends on your goals for the massage:
– For targeted work on a specific muscle group or complaint, 30-45 minutes may be sufficient.
– If you’re seeking an overall relaxation experience, 60-90 minutes is generally enough time.
– For a combination of relaxation with focused, targeted work, therapeutic, deeper, and more intentional bodywork, 120-180 minutes or more is ideal.
Remember, while 60 minutes might seem like a lot of time, it goes by quickly when addressing multiple focus areas. We encourage you to manage your expectations for the session time and communicate your primary concerns on your intake form and to your therapist to ensure the most beneficial experience.
4. How frequently should I schedule my massage sessions?
The ideal frequency for your massage sessions depends on your personal goals and what your therapist assesses in your body. This can range from weekly to bi-weekly or monthly. Some clients even benefit from sessions twice a week, especially if they have specific goals or demanding daily activities.
5. What should I do in between sessions?
Your time between sessions is just as important as the massage itself! We’ll provide you with “homework” provide in our after-session conversation. This might include simple stretches, hydration tips, or adjustments to daily habits.
6. What’s the difference between using a towel versus a sheet to drape?
When it comes to draping during a massage, there’s a notable difference in the use of towels versus sheets, primarily impacting client comfort, modesty, and overall experience. A large bath sheet offers some coverage, but it inherently provides less complete coverage than a standard massage sheet. In terms of warmth, a towel simply cannot offer the same insulation and sense of security that a sheet provides.
7. How far in advance should I book services?
Our therapists’ schedules fill up quickly, so we recommend booking your session 1 to 2 weeks in advance if possible. While we do our best to accommodate everyone, especially with reschedules, booking ahead helps ensure you get your preferred time!
8. Why does it take so long to get scheduled?
Your therapist’s schedule fills up quickly, so we always recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and time. To help ensure you get the spot you want, we encourage clients to inquire about their next session approximately 7-14 days after your last one. You may also view availability via your Jane App profile.
9. Can I self-book?
Yes, you can! We’re excited to offer 24/7 online booking through our new scheduling system. Simply click Book Online. This is the fastest and easiest way to see our real-time availability. If you don’t see your preferred day/time, simply add yourself to the waitlist and you will be notified as soon as possible.
10. How can I ensure my desired appointment time is secured?
To ensure your preferred massage session time is fully secured, the key is providing all the requested booking information promptly! While we hold your requested time for 10 minutes, the session is only confirmed once we have all the necessary details. This includes your first name, last name, email address, specific service you’d like, and preferred date and time. The sooner you submit these details, the faster we can lock in your relaxation time. We appreciate your understanding as we work to get everyone booked smoothly!
11. Does registering for a Jane App profile on your website automatically schedule me for an appointment?
No, completing your profile simply sets up a secure account within our system. This profile is a necessary step before you can proceed with booking your desired appointment, viewing your history, billing, etc. We encourage clients to navigate through the system for familiarity purposes.
12. I want to gift a session to someone. Can I complete their intake form for them?
We kindly ask that you do not. Intake forms contain crucial information about a client’s health history and anatomy that could contraindicate certain treatments, ensuring their safety during the session. As these are binding documents, all health information must be completed and signed by the individual who will be receiving massage therapy.
13. Is there a reason you can’t answer the phone during business hours?
Yes, we prioritize the quality of each client’s session. Answering calls interrupts the tranquil environment and flow of the massage, which we aim to prevent for every client, including you. We appreciate your patience as we do our best to respond to all inquiries. We typically respond within 24-72 hours.
14. I called to book a session, but haven’t received a call back. How do I get a hold of the studio?
Given our business hours and operations, we often aren’t able to return calls until after studio and administrative hours (approximately. 8 p.m.), which can feel intrusive to your evening. To avoid interrupting our clients and prospective clients, we primarily respond to inquiries via text message. This ensures our message is communicated efficiently without disturbance.
15. I purchased a Groupon, but I haven’t received a confirmation regarding my appointment.
Purchasing a Groupon voucher doesn’t automatically book your session with us. To proceed with booking, our studio requires you to text us your first name, last name, email address, phone number, a screenshot of your Groupon voucher (or the 8-digit redemption code), and your preferred date and time for your session. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preference depending on schedule openings.
16. Do you have promotional prices?
Yes, we do!

17. Should I give a tip for massage therapy services?
While you aren’t obligated to tip, it is greatly appreciated in the massage therapy industry. It’s a wonderful way to show your appreciation for your therapist’s dedicated work and the personalized care you received during your session.
18. How can I give a tip?
For your convenience, you can give a tip via cash, Cash App, Zelle, or debit/credit card at the conclusion of your session.
19. I purchased a package. How does tipping work then?
When tipping for a session that’s part of a package, we recommend tipping on the value of the individual session within that package, as if you were paying the standard rate for that specific service.
20. Do you offer sessions after 2 p.m.?
Yes, we do! Appointments after 2 p.m. are considered Special Request Sessions and are subject to therapist availability. If the therapist can accommodate your request for a session after 2 p.m., a $100 surcharge will be applied to that session.
