Myofascial Release
This form of therapy focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in the fascia, a thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles, bones, and organs in the body. Typically, this session involves gentle, sustained pressure and stretching techniques to target areas of tightness or restricted movement caused by trauma, poor posture, inflammation, or repetitive stress. MRT focuses on the concept that tight or restricted fascia can cause pain and dysfunction in other areas of the body.
Deep Tissue
This massage focuses on targeting the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues in the body. It is designed to address specific areas of pain, discomfort, and stiffness. Treatment can encompass various modalities such as connective tissue work, myofascial work, and cross-fiber friction techniques. The goal of this modality is to alleviate muscle tension and improve overall mobility and flexibility. It can be beneficial for athletes or those seeking relief from chronic muscle issues.
Note: Despite the deeper pressure used, communication between the therapist and the recipient is crucial. The therapist should ensure the pressure remains within the client’s manageable limits, allowing for a comfortable and effective treatment session.
Trigger Point Therapy
This form of massage therapy focuses on addressing localized areas of muscle tightness and discomfort known as trigger points. These hyper irritable knots (nodules or fascial adhesions)within the muscle fibers that can cause pain, referred pain, and restricted movement.
The primary goal of TrP therapy is to alleviate pain and restore normal muscle function. It is beneficial for various conditions, including tension headaches, frozen shoulder, repetitive strain injuries, and chronic pain syndromes. It can also be used to address postural imbalances and muscular imbalances.
Note: It is important to communicate with your therapist about specific symptoms and areas of concern to ensure an effective TrP therapy session.
Reflexology
A form of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to specific areas or points in the feet, hands, or ears. It is based on the belief that these areas are connected to organs, systems, and other parts of the body through energy pathways. The underlying theory behind reflexology is that applying pressure to these points can help stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and restore balance.
